Does your business need its own Android app?
When a mobile app is worth building for staff or customers, when a mobile-friendly website is enough, and what to plan before development.
Apps for staff usually pay back first
Field sales, delivery, service technicians and supervisors use the same few screens all day. An app that removes calls, paper and re-typing for them saves time every single day, which is why internal apps often justify their cost faster than customer apps.
When a website is enough for customers
Customers install an app only if they will use it repeatedly — reordering, tracking, booking or checking reports. For occasional enquiries, a fast mobile website with WhatsApp contact converts better than asking people to download something.
Plan the backend, not just the screens
Most of the work in a business app is behind the screens: user roles, the database, an admin panel, notifications and connections to your ERP, CRM or HRMS. Decide early whether the app needs to work offline in low-network areas.
Android first, then decide on iOS
In India most field and staff phones run Android, so a business app usually starts there and can be distributed as a direct APK or through Google Play. Plan the architecture so an iOS version can be added later if customers or management need it.
