What decides the cost of a business website in India?
Pages, content, design, integrations and support — what actually moves a website quote up or down, and how to compare proposals fairly.
Scope, not page count, drives the price
A ten-page company profile and a two-page site with online booking can cost very differently. The big drivers are custom design versus a template, who writes the content, how many languages, and whether the site has features such as search, booking, product catalogues, client logins or payments.
Integrations are where hidden work sits
Sending enquiries to a CRM or Google Sheet, WhatsApp hand-off, payment gateways, shipping or ERP sync each add development and testing time. List every system the website must talk to before asking for quotes, so every vendor prices the same thing.
Speed, SEO and mobile are not extras
Most visitors arrive on a phone, and Google ranks slow or poorly structured pages lower. A quote should include responsive design, page titles and descriptions, a sitemap, structured data and basic speed optimisation. If it does not, ask what it would cost to add them.
Compare ownership and support
Check who owns the domain, hosting account and source code, who can edit content after launch, and what support costs. A slightly higher quote with clear ownership and post-launch support is often cheaper over two years than the lowest number.
